Our terms, in plain words.

These apply when Kiteleo builds your free one-page website.

What you get

We design and build a one-page website for your business, free of charge, and host it free for one year from the day it goes live. Before we start, you answer our questions about your business, and we work from your answers.

After the first year

If you are still on the free plan when the year ends, we can keep hosting your website for NZ$20 a year. If you are on the care plan, hosting is included.

Changes after it’s live

Each year we make up to 3 hours of changes to your website for free. The year starts on the day your website goes live. Once the 3 hours are used, we make no more free changes until your next year starts. If you need more, the care plan below covers it.

Our name on your website

Your website carries a small “Built by Kiteleo” line in its footer. It stays there while you are on the free plan.

Paid extras

Two extras are optional. You only pay for them if you ask for them.

Search engine optimisation (SEO). We work to get your website onto the first page of Google (the top 10 results) when someone searches for your business by name. Search engines decide their own results, so this is what we aim for, not something anyone can guarantee. SEO is NZ$80 a month.

Monthly care plan. Up to 3 hours of changes to your website each month, with SEO and hosting included, for NZ$120 a month. The care plan runs for at least 6 months. After that it carries on month to month, and either of us can end it with 30 days’ notice by email.

A free first month. When we show you your finished website, we offer the first month of SEO or the care plan free, if you choose within 7 days of first opening that page. You can stop during the free month by emailing us, and you pay nothing. If you carry on, the monthly price starts when the free month ends, and the care plan’s 6 months are counted from then. You can pay by card or by invoice.

Bigger websites

If you want more than the free one-page website (more pages, a shop, bookings or anything custom), we give you a quote first and build it once you agree. That work is not free. What you get, and what it costs, is set out in the quote, not in the free plan described above.

What you give us

You confirm that the words, photos, logos and reviews you send us are yours to use, that they are true, and that we may use them on your website.

Your web address

The choice is yours. You can buy your own web address (domain name), or we can help register one for you and transfer it to you when our hosting of your website ends.

If either of us wants to stop

On the free plan you can leave at any time: email us and we take your website down. If we need to stop hosting your website, we give you 30 days’ notice by email.

If you leave, your web address, your words, your photos and your logo are yours to take. The free one-page website itself, its design and its code, stays with Kiteleo, unless you buy it outright for a one-time NZ$500. Then we hand over a copy of its files and it is yours. This purchase option applies only to the free one-page website; bigger websites have their own quoted terms.

If something goes wrong

We build and look after your website with reasonable care and skill. We can’t promise it will never be offline, or that it will bring you a set number of customers.

We are not responsible for what you give us to publish, for services we don’t run (such as hosting companies, domain registrars and search engines), or for business you lose because of a fault. If we are at fault, the most we owe you is what you paid us in the 12 months before.

Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you that can’t be signed away. Kiteleo is based in New Zealand, and New Zealand law applies to these terms.
